Greg Lewin is an Associate Teaching Professor and Associate Head of Robotics Engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), where he plays a key role in shaping the robotics engineering curriculum and mentoring students. He is based in the College of Engineering within the Department of Robotics Engineering.
His research and teaching interests center around robotics and control systems, with a strong emphasis on hands-on, experiential learning. He actively incorporates practical tools such as the Braitenberg Vehicle into his instruction to illustrate fundamental control principles without reliance on microcontrollers, promoting deep conceptual understanding.
Before joining WPI, Greg spent four years as a researcher at Southern Denmark University, where his family immersed in Danish language and culture. This international experience informs his global perspective on engineering education. His academic lineage includes his grandfather, Carl Lewin ’39, a civil engineering alumnus and former WPI trustee, highlighting a multigenerational connection to the institution.
Though no specific scientific awards, grants, or publications are listed in the available text, his leadership role and teaching focus suggest active contributions to engineering pedagogy and curriculum development. He advises students through project-based learning, particularly in robotics applications, and contributes to program administration as Associate Head.
Greg maintains a strong personal and professional connection to Sweden, having participated in study abroad programs in Lund and vacationed on Öland with his family. A cherished memento, a Dala horse gifted by a student, symbolizes this cross-cultural academic engagement.
