Grazia Scoppio

Dr. Grazia (Grace) Scoppio is a Professor in the Department of Defence Studies at the Royal Military College of Canada (RMC) and cross-appointed in the Queen’s University Department of Political Studies. She is also a fellow at the Centre for International and Defence Policy at Queen’s. Her current research focuses on immigrants’ participation in the military from an international perspective. She held roles as Dean of Continuing Studies (2017–2020) and Associate Dean (2013–2016) at RMC.

Education: PhD in Education (University of Toronto), MA (Université Stendhal Grenoble), BA.H (University of Toronto).

Research interests include military sociology, international security, and leadership development. She has contributed to leadership programs for Veterans Affairs Canada and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Dr. Scoppio serves on academic editorial boards, including co-editing Comparative and International Education (2014–2017), and participates in organizations like the Inter-University Seminar on Armed Forces and Society.

Awards include the Fulbright Canada Research Chair (2021) and recognition for her work with the Canadian Forces Leadership Institute (CFLI).

Professional activities include media contributions, parliamentary testimony, and involvement in the Halifax International Security Forum’s Peace With Women Fellowship Selection Committee (2018).
