Gratz Achatz

Gratz Achatz leads the Tissue Immune Regulation research group within the Division of Allergy and Immunology at the University of Salzburg’s Faculty of Natural and Life Sciences. Their work focuses on understanding immune mechanisms in chronic inflammatory conditions such as allergies and autoimmunity, particularly in skin and lung tissues. The group investigates immune tolerance, regulatory T cells (Treg), immune cell stability, and therapeutic strategies using humanized mice and biologics.

• Key Research Areas: Foxp3+ Treg function, apoptotic processes in immune cells, IgE regulation, and clinical gene therapy applications.
• Methodologies: Transgenic/knockout mice, biologics, and biomolecular tools to study immune cell interactions in vivo.

They are affiliated with the University of Salzburg’s Allergy-Cancer-BioNano Research Centre and contribute to the international PhD Program ICA (FWF-funded).
