Grainne Lowe is a Professor at the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Monash University, where she contributes to both undergraduate and postgraduate education, including the Master of Nursing (Nurse Practitioner) program. She is actively involved in research and currently serves as a Chief Investigator on the SAFE-HF project, a multi-year study on Nurse Practitioner-led heart failure care.
Her research interests include workforce sustainability, Nurse Practitioner role development, scope of practice, health policy, emergency nursing, and patient outcomes. These areas are deeply rooted in her clinical background as one of the first endorsed Nurse Practitioners in emergency nursing in Victoria.
The recent publications highlight her focus on advanced nursing practice, mental health of nursing students during the pandemic, medication safety, and workforce patterns. Her work spans public health, clinical practice, education, and policy, with increasing emphasis on pandemic impacts and primary care innovation.

Grainne advises PhD students and has secured competitive research funding, including the active NHMRC-funded SAFE-HF trial. She collaborates widely with researchers in nursing, medicine, and health services. She is also a Fellow and past President of the Australian College of Nurse Practitioners, contributing to national policy and professional leadership.
Her research network includes collaborations across Australia and internationally, particularly in emergency care, chronic disease management, and nursing workforce development.
