Sir Graham Watson is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Toronto's Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy, where he teaches a postgraduate course on the European Union. He is a former Member of the European Parliament (MEP) and served as a Distinguished Visiting Fellow (2020–2022). His current affiliations include the Centre for European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies.
His research interests span European Union studies, politics, history, energy policy, environmental policy, security policy, and global affairs. He has authored ten books and numerous articles on these topics, contributing to academic journals, think tanks, and national newspapers. His work has included extended lecture tours across Germany, China, and Europe, with affiliations at over 30 universities worldwide.
Sir Graham has received significant honours, including a knighthood (Knight Bachelor) in the UK’s Queen’s Birthday Honours List for public service, as well as honours from the Republic of China, Georgia, and Gibraltar.
He has advised on climate policy through roles like founder and former chair of The Climate Parliament, a network of legislators advocating for climate action. He currently serves as Board Member of the European Cyclists’ Federation and Chairman of the World Cycling Alliance. His current projects include researching a biography of Lord Russell-Johnston for Birlinn Books.
