Dr Graham Walker is a science communication teacher, researcher, and practitioner at the Australian National Centre for the Public Awareness of Science (CPAS), ANU. He convenes the Postgraduate Coursework programs (Master of Science Communication and Graduate Certificate) and founded Science Circus Africa and Science Circus Pacific, capacity-building initiatives focused on science communication in Africa, the Pacific, and Asia. His research explores informal STEM learning methods, emotion/motivation in science communication, and socioscientific issues like climate change and health.
Education: BSc (Biochemistry), Grad Dip (Science Communication), PhD (Science Communication).
Research Interests: Science centres, interactive exhibits, global partnerships, youth engagement, and cross-cultural science communication. His work emphasizes culturally adapted approaches to science education and capacity building in developing regions.
Recent Articles: Focus on cross-cultural science communication programs, community-driven science engagement, and capacity-building models for science centres in Africa. His 2024 studies include youth participation in school gardens (Kenya/PNG) and cross-cultural graduate education in South Africa.
- Science Circus Africa has trained over 500 staff and reached 73,000 people in 10 African countries.
- DFAT-supported Science Circus Pacific expands this model to Pacific nations.
