Professor Graham Currie holds the Chair of Public Transport at Monash University's Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, where he directs the Public Transport Research Group (PTRG). With over 30 years' international experience, he is a globally recognized expert in transit planning, policy, and special events transportation.
His research spans public transport strategy development, performance benchmarking, transit network modeling, and emerging mobility technologies. Current investigations focus on autonomous vehicle impacts, micro-mobility integration, and pandemic recovery in transit systems. Methodologies combine advanced simulation techniques with behavioral analysis and economic appraisal.
Publications demonstrate consistent leadership in analyzing shared mobility patterns, safety interventions, and technological disruptions in transportation. Recent work examines post-pandemic rider behavior, e-scooter integration, and cyclist-tram safety conflicts.
Honors include being the only dual recipient of the William W Millar Award and the Australian Transport Medal. His research group ranks among the world's top three in public transport research productivity and impact.
