Professor Graeme Earl serves as the Dean of the College of Humanities and holds the position of Professor of Archaeology in the Department of History of Art and Archaeology at SOAS University of London. He is also a visiting professor at the University of Cambridge and has previously held visiting roles at Keio University in Tokyo and the Australian National University in Canberra. His academic career includes leadership in archaeological research and educational innovation, with a focus on digital technologies and cultural heritage.

Graeme's research explores the intersection of cultural heritage and digital technologies, emphasizing documentation, analysis, and sharing of archaeological findings. He has collaborated with museums and cultural institutions globally to enhance access to collections through innovative digital and physical engagement strategies. His current work investigates interaction design in museums, particularly the application of mixed reality and the Internet of Things to enrich visitor experiences and heritage preservation.
In addition to his roles at SOAS, Graeme has been affiliated with international institutions. He co-directed fieldwork at Portus, the ancient port of Rome, and across the Roman Mediterranean, collaborating closely with the British School at Rome. He also contributes to creative industries, working with organizations in broadcast media, architecture, games, and immersive technologies to integrate historical insights into modern creative projects.
He is associated with the Department of History of Art and Archaeology and the School of Arts at SOAS, contributing to programs like the MA Curating Cultures and MA Creative and Cultural Industries. His work also involves collaborations with the British School at Rome and projects such as National Gallery X, which bridge academic research with creative industries.
