Grace Sanders Johnson is an Associate Professor of Africana Studies at the University of Pennsylvania's School of Arts and Sciences. She specializes in modern Caribbean history, transnational feminisms, oral history, and environmental humanities. Her affiliations include the Center for Africana Studies. She is currently on leave for the 2024-2025 academic year.
Her research explores African diasporic studies and Latin American history, emphasizing gendered historical narratives. She has received prestigious fellowships including from the Ford Foundation and Schomburg Center, supporting her archival work in Haiti and beyond.
