Dr. Grace Leksana is an Assistant Professor in Indonesian History at the Department of History and Art History, Utrecht University. Her work focuses on memory studies, (epistemic) violence & genocide, histories of the Left, decolonization, and microhistory. She is affiliated with the Humanities Research Institute for History and Art History at Utrecht University.

Grace’s research explores the intersections of memory culture and historical trauma, particularly in the context of Indonesia’s 1965 anti-leftist violence. Her work bridges interdisciplinary methodologies with a focus on marginalized narratives and postcolonial historiography.
Her recent publications highlight decolonization, memory studies, and Southeast Asian history. These works analyze curriculum reform, intergenerational trauma, and violence dynamics.
She serves on the advisory board of the War, Conflict, and Genocide Studies series at Amsterdam University Press.
