Gözde Güran is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology and the Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. She specializes in economic sociology, migration studies, and political sociology, employing ethnographic, experimental, and statistical methods. Her award-winning dissertation research on hawala systems in wartime Syria examines economic resilience during crises.

Her research explores how economic networks persist during civil wars and forced migration, supported by grants from the National Science Foundation and Princeton institutions.
