Gowri Shankar

Dr. Gowri Shankar is a tenured Associate Professor at the University of Washington Bothell (UW Bothell) School of Business. He has served as Vice Chancellor for Planning & Administration (VCPA) since 2019, overseeing institutional planning, budgeting, fiscal services, and campus facilities. His academic career spans institutions like SUNY-Oswego, Cornell University, Syracuse University, and Bangalore University.

• Education: Undergraduate/graduate degrees in accounting and finance from Bangalore University and Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad; Ph.D. in Finance from Syracuse University.

Shankar’s research focuses on stock market index constitution and performance, evolution of stock trading, and retirement income modeling. He has published in journals including Financial Review, Economics Letters, and Journal of Retirement.

His teaching covers finance, accounting, managerial economics, and risk management & insurance. He has held administrative roles such as Chair of the UWB General Faculty Organization and Associate Director/Associate Dean for Graduate Programs in the School of Business.
