Govindaraj Dev Kumar is an Associate Professor at the University of Georgia's College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, affiliated with the Center for Food Safety. His research focuses on bacterial adaptations to environmental stressors, food safety interventions, and antimicrobial development. He has contributed to studies on bioaerosol contamination, pathogen persistence in agricultural environments, and novel antimicrobial technologies.
His work addresses cross-contamination risks from soil, compost, and water, as well as the efficacy of sanitizers and light-based treatments. Collaborations span food microbiology, environmental health, and public policy.
Publications highlight innovations in pathogen detection, spore resistance mechanisms, and the application of emerging technologies like atmospheric cold plasma and smartphone-based thermal imaging for food safety.
