Gourabananda Pahar

Gourabananda Pahar serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. His academic specialization focuses on Hydraulics and Water Resources Engineering within the School of Engineering.

Dr. Pahar completed his educational journey with a Ph.D. from IIT Kharagpur in 2017 under the supervision of Dr. Anirban Dhar, preceded by an M.Tech. from the same institution in 2013 and a B.E. from Bengal Engineering and Science University, Shibpur in 2011. His research expertise spans Computational and Experimental Hydraulics with particular emphasis on Lagrangian Particle Methods.

His scholarly work demonstrates a strong focus on developing advanced computational models for fluid dynamics problems, particularly in multiphase flow systems, sediment transport mechanisms, and surface water-groundwater interactions. Dr. Pahar's research bridges theoretical modeling with practical applications in water resources management.

Dr. Pahar has been honored with the prestigious INSPIRE Faculty Award from the Department of Science and Technology in 2018, recognizing his research potential and contributions to the field. Earlier in his career, he received the Best M.Tech Thesis Award from the Indian Society for Hydraulics in 2013.

His publications in high-impact journals including International Journal of Numerical Methods in Fluids, Advances in Water Resources, and Journal of Hydrology reflect his expertise in computational hydraulics and water resources engineering, with particular contributions to particle-based modeling approaches.
