Saumyen Guha

Saumyen Guha is a Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. He specializes in Hydraulics and Water Resources Engineering, with a particular focus on subsurface flow and transport phenomena in natural systems.

Dr. Guha received his PhD from Princeton University in 1996, following an M.Tech from IIT Kanpur in 1989 and a B.E. from Bengal Engineering College in 1987. His academic journey has established him as a leading researcher in environmental and water resources engineering.

Dr. Guha's research primarily focuses on Subsurface Flow and Transport, Bioremediation of Toxic Organics in Natural Systems, Fate and Transport of Pesticides and Heavy Metals in Natural Systems, Metal uptake in plants, and Natural Isotopes. His work bridges the gap between theoretical understanding and practical applications in environmental remediation and water resource management. His laboratory investigations have provided critical insights into contaminant transport mechanisms and biodegradation processes in soil and groundwater systems.
