Gordon Wallace

Gordon Wallace is a Professor at the Australian Institute for Innovative Materials (AIIM), University of Wollongong, where he serves as Director of the Intelligent Polymer Research Institute (IPRI), Executive Director of AIIM, and Director of the Australian National Fabrication Facility – Materials Node. A Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science (FAA) and Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (FTSE), he has received prestigious accolades including the ARC Laureate Fellowship (2011), Eureka Prize (2016), and NSW Scientist of the Year (2017). His leadership extends to founding the Translational Research Initiative for Cellular Engineering and Printing (TRICEP).

Research Interests focus on electrochemistry, nanomaterials, intelligent polymers, and 3D biofabrication for health and energy. He pioneers electromaterials for applications like the Biopen (direct cell printing in surgery) and CO2 conversion systems. His work bridges organic conductors, biomaterials, and device engineering.

Recent publications highlight advancements in CO2 electroreduction, graphene-based sensors, 3D bioprinting, and bioactive hydrogels. These reflect interdisciplinary trends in materials for sustainable energy, biomedical devices, and nanotechnology-driven therapies.
