Gordon Morris is Professor of Carbohydrate Chemistry at the University of Huddersfield's School of Applied Sciences. He leads research in the Biopolymer Research Centre and serves as Associate Member of the Biorefinery Engineering and Bioprocessing Research Centre.
His research focuses on:
- Polysaccharide structure-function relationships
- Pectins and chitosan biopolymers
- Mucoadhesion mechanisms
- Hydrodynamic characterization
- Polysaccharide-based drug delivery systems
With an h-index of 43 from over 5,600 citations, his work examines the dilute solution conformation of polysaccharides, extraction of therapeutic molecules, and effects of chemical/enzymatic modifications on polysaccharide properties.
He regularly examines PhD candidates internationally and coordinates research on marine exopolysaccharides, plant-derived pectins, and heparin stability.
