Dr. Gordon E. McNeer is a Professor of Spanish at the University of North Georgia (UNG), specializing in the Spanish lyrical tradition and contemporary poetry. He holds a Ph.D. in Romance Languages from Princeton University (1976) and has taught at institutions including Princeton, the University of Florida, and the University of California at Berkeley. His expertise includes translations of Spanish and Hispano-American poets such as José Hierro, Benjamín Prado, and Fernando Valverde. He has authored bilingual editions of poetry collections and served as Director of the International Institute in Madrid (1999-2000) and coordinator of UNG's study abroad programs in Spain (1996-2008).
