Gordon C. Tucker

Gordon C. Tucker is a Professor in Biological Sciences at Eastern Illinois University, specializing in vascular plant systematics with a focus on the Cyperaceae (sedge family). As curator of the Stover-Ebinger Herbarium, he combines field botany with academic research and teaching.

• Education: PhD (1985) and MS (1981) in Botany from Duke University.

His research spans taxonomic studies of sedges in North America, China, Brazil, and Nepal, with active collaborations on global flora projects. Recent publications include contributions to the Flora of North America North of Mexico and discovery of new species in Vietnam.

Teaching interests include Plant Taxonomy, Dendrology, Wetland and Aquatic Plants, and Ethnobotany, with notable study abroad courses in China. His work with the Flora of North America Association includes editorial board membership and family editor responsibilities.
