Gordana Buljan Flander

Prof. Gordana Buljan Flander is a distinguished clinical psychologist and university professor specializing in child protection and mental health. She holds academic positions at multiple faculties and is affiliated with Bernačić College of Applied Sciences. As a court expert for abused children, she pioneered child protection initiatives in Croatia, founding the 'Brave Phone' helpline (1997) and the Zagreb Child Protection Polyclinic (2002). Her work earned global recognition, including ISPCAN’s Multidisciplinary Team Award (2008) and Croatia’s State Science Award (2019).

Her research focuses on trauma intervention, child rights, and mental health during crises. She has lectured internationally and led multidisciplinary teams addressing child abuse. Post-2022, she continues clinical work through her private practice GBF Educa d.o.o., while advocating for systemic improvements in child welfare.

During Croatia’s 2020 pandemic and 2021 earthquake crises, she provided critical mental health support to children and families. Her contributions bridge clinical practice, academia, and public policy, emphasizing holistic child protection frameworks.
