Ash Elklit

Ash Elklit is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Southern Denmark, specializing in Clinical Psychology and Psychotraumatology. His research focuses on posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex PTSD (CPTSD), trauma exposure, mental health, coping mechanisms, and psychological assessment across diverse populations including children, emergency workers, and victims of abuse. He employs advanced statistical methods such as regression and latent class analysis.

Recent publications highlight his work on trauma in Danish and Faroese adolescents, stalking victims, child abuse survivors, and emergency personnel. His research spans clinical validation of assessment tools like the Darryl Cartoon Test and OCTS, interventions during crises like the pandemic, and long-term consequences of workplace violence. There is a strong emphasis on ICD-11 diagnostics, cultural adaptation, and evidence-based practices.

He is involved in multiple ongoing research projects related to trauma, resilience, and occupational health, and frequently collaborates with institutions like the Danish Barnáhus. He also contributes to media discussions on trauma, public policy, and mental health, demonstrating a commitment to knowledge dissemination.

He supervises PhD students, including M. Alkærsig, and participates in projects funded by institutional and national research bodies. His work includes developing resilience programs for ambulance staff and addressing violence among pregnant women from ethnic minority backgrounds.
