Gopolang Mohlabeng

Gopolang Mohlabeng is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at Simon Fraser University (SFU). He holds a PhD in Theoretical Particle Physics from the University of Kansas, with prior postdoctoral appointments at the University of California, Irvine as a Chancellor’s Advanced Postdoctoral Fellow (2021-2023), McDonald Institute at Queen’s University (2020-2021), and Brookhaven National Laboratory (2017-2020). His research focuses on particle physics phenomenology, including searches for new physics beyond the Standard Model, dark matter detection through terrestrial and astrophysical probes, and the interplay between neutrinos and dark matter in cosmology.

He teaches PHYS 344: Thermal Physics in Fall 2025. His research group’s activities are detailed on their website. Mohlabeng’s academic journey includes a B.Sc. (Honours) in Astrophysics from the University of Cape Town and a B.Sc. in Physics from the University of Pretoria.
