Golo Föllmer

Prof. Dr. Golo Föllmer is a Professor of Music and Media at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, bridging systematic musicology and media studies. His work focuses on music’s mediatization, sound aesthetics, and radio’s role in shaping identities. He previously served as a Visiting Professor at HBK Braunschweig and led the Transnational Radio Encounters EU project. He is a radio author, festival curator, and musician with a background in piano-making and studies in Music/Communication (TU Berlin) and Broadcast Communication (San Francisco State).

• Developed the Online Radio MA program (ORMA) with industry partners

His research explores sound’s role in media representation, including projects like ‘Radio Aesthetics’ and ‘Musical Storage Cultures.’ He co-curates festivals like Dystopia Sound Art and collaborates internationally on media studies initiatives. Active memberships include the European Sound Studies Association and the German Society for Electroacoustic Music.
