Glyn Hambrook

Dr Glyn Hambrook is an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Wolverhampton's Faculty of Arts and Profesor Honorífico at Madrid's Universidad Complutense. His career spanned 37 years, culminating as Reader in Comparative and European Literature with a focus on fin de siècle studies and Franco-Hispanic literary relations. He co-directed the Centre for Transnational and Transcultural Research, contributed to RAE/REF submissions, and holds honorary affiliations with Spain's Sociedad Española de Literatura General y Comparada.

Education: B.A. (French/Spanish) and PhD from the University of Nottingham (1973–1986). Languages: Fluent in Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, and peer-reviewed proficiency in multiple Romance languages.

Research explores 19th-century European literary networks, particularly Baudelaire's reception in Spain, Symbolism, and transnational cultural exchanges. He has edited major journals like Comparative Critical Studies and Revue de Littérature Comparée, shaping comparative literature discourse.

Teaching spans Hispanic, Francophone, and Anglophone literatures across institutions in the UK and Spain, including doctoral supervision and thesis examination. Awards include honorary fellowships and membership in Spain's leading comparative literature society.

Current roles involve research collaboration between Wolverhampton and Madrid, examining modernity in literature through the 'Contextos literarios de la modernidad' group.
