Gloria Swindler Boutte is a Carolina Distinguished Professor in Early Childhood Education at the University of South Carolina College of Education, where she also serves as Associate Dean of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. She founded and directs the Center for the Education and Equity of African American Students (CEEAAS) and co-founded Drs. Diaspora, LLC, an educational consulting firm.

Her research focuses on equity pedagogies, particularly culturally relevant/responsive teaching, African Diaspora Literacy, and African American language biliteracy. She has developed frameworks for healing pedagogy and revolutionary love in education.
Recent publications emphasize anti-racist education, transformative curriculum, and community involvement, with notable works including We Be Lovin’ Black Children (2021, 2022 award), African Diaspora Literacy (2019 award), and Educating African American Students (2022, 2nd ed.).
