Glenn Penny is Professor and Henry J. Bruman Chair in German History at UCLA. He holds a PhD from University of Illinois and Dr.Sc. from Wageningen University.
His research examines German interactions with non-Europeans, ethnographic museums, and transcultural histories. Notable works include In Humboldt's Shadow on ethnological collections and German History Unbound on polycentric German histories.
Current projects explore belonging in southern German borderlands and German communities in Chile. His museum research engages contemporary restitution debates.
