Professor Glen Ulett is a Professor of Microbiology at Griffith University, specifically affiliated with the School of PAM - Anatomy Physiology Biology. He leads a research team focused on bacterial pathogenesis and mechanisms of host response to infection, with particular expertise in Group B Streptococcus and uropathogenic Escherichia coli. His work has significant implications for understanding and treating urinary tract infections and other bacterial diseases.
Professor Ulett obtained his PhD in Microbiology from James Cook University (Australia) and completed post-doctoral research at St Jude Children's Research Hospital, the University of Queensland, and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. His current appointments include membership in the Institute for Biomedicine and Glycomics (2024-present) and previously in the Infectious Diseases & Immunology group (2018-2024).
His primary research interests include bacterial pathogenesis, host-pathogen interactions, antimicrobial resistance mechanisms, metal ion homeostasis in bacterial pathogens, and immunotherapeutic approaches to combat bacterial infections.
