Giuseppe Procida is an Associate Professor at the Department of Life Sciences, University of Trieste. He is actively involved in research related to Food Chemistry, with a focus on natural products and their biological activities. As a member of multiple research groups, including the Cateni/Zacchigna/Procida Group, Redox Proteins Group, and Biosensors Group, he contributes to projects spanning organic synthesis, biocrystallography, and biosensor development.
His research interests include the synthesis of enantiomerically pure lactones and their biological evaluation, biocrystallographic studies of proteins, and the design of biosensors for food quality analysis. He also explores metal-catalyzed ATRC reactions for gamma-lactam synthesis and immobilization techniques for neurotrophic factors in diagnostic tests.
As a member of the Department's Board and Boards of Studies, he plays an integral role in academic governance and teaching. His work bridges interdisciplinary areas such as supramolecular chemistry, nanotechnologies, and computational modeling for functional molecular systems.
