Giuseppe Masetti

Giuseppe Masetti is an Adjunct Associate Research Professor at the University of New Hampshire's Center for Coastal and Ocean Mapping. He previously held a full-time position as Research Assistant Professor at the same institution from 2016 to 2020, after which he moved to the Danish Hydrographic Office but retained his adjunct affiliation.

Dr. Masetti's primary research interests lie in hydrography and ocean mapping, with a focus on developing methods for marine survey data acquisition, processing, and validation. His work particularly emphasizes acoustic seafloor characterization, leveraging acoustic remote sensing for detailed seafloor mapping. He is the lead developer of the HydrOffice research framework, an open-source software for hydrographic data processing, and the E-learning Python for Ocean Mapping (ePOM) initiative, which provides educational resources for ocean mapping professionals.

Dr. Masetti's scientific awards and recognitions include:

Prior to his academic roles, he served in the Italian Navy from 1999, where he worked as an Operations Officer on hydrographic vessels ITN Aretusa and ITN Magnaghi, gaining hands-on experience in hydrographic survey operations.

Dr. Masetti is actively involved with the Center for Coastal and Ocean Mapping at the University of New Hampshire. He leads the HydrOffice research framework development team and manages the E-learning Python for Ocean Mapping (ePOM) initiative, contributing to the advancement of hydrographic education and open-source tools in the field.
