Giuseppe Cardillo

Professor Giuseppe Cardillo is the Chair of Thoracic Surgery at the Azienda Ospedaliera San Camillo Forlanini in Rome, Italy. He holds leadership roles including President of the Italian Society of Thoracic Endoscopy (SIET), Chair of the European Respiratory Society (ERS) Thoracic Surgery Group, and Director of the EACTS Academy Thoracic Surgery Course 1. He is also involved in multiple international task forces and committees, such as the ERS-EACTS-ESTS joint task force on pneumothorax and malignant pleural mesothelioma.

His clinical and research interests focus on minimally invasive thoracic surgery techniques (VATS and RATS), locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), mesothelioma, thymoma, tracheal surgery, and lung cancer screening. He contributes to academic publishing as an Associate Editor of Frontiers in Oncology and Guest Editor of Journal of Clinical Medicine, and serves on the editorial board of the European Respiratory Journal.

Professor Cardillo has held past positions including Locum Consultant Thoracic Surgeon at the University Hospitals of Leicester (UK) and Thoracic Surgery Fellow at Sahlgrenska University Hospital (Sweden). He is a recognized authority in thoracic surgery, with an H-index of 40 (Google Scholar).
