Giuseppe Bianco

Giuseppe Bianco is an Associate Professor at the Department of Philosophy and Cultural Heritage of Ca' Foscari University of Venice. His research spans the history of 19th- and 20th-century French philosophy, focusing on its intersections with the humanities, social sciences, and life sciences. A graduate of the University of Trieste and University of Paris-8, he has collaborated with Alain Badiou and Frédéric Worms and participated in networks like OFFRES and Erasmus Mundus.

Bianco’s work explores vitalism, biopolitics, and epistemology, particularly through figures like Georges Canguilhem, Henri Bergson, and Georges Politzer. He investigates how philosophical concepts interact with social norms, biological mechanisms, and transnational academic networks. His INTERPHIL project analyzes the role of early 20th-century philosophy congresses in shaping disciplinary identity.

Recent publications include books on Bergson’s legacy, Canguilhem’s vital norms, and Deleuze’s Bergsonism. He has received the Singer-Polignac Foundation Prize and a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Grant. Bianco has curated the Jean Hyppolite Archives and contributed to journals like Journal of the History of Ideas and Revue philosophique.

He organizes seminars and conferences globally, including at the École Normale Supérieure and New York University. His scientific consulting and editorial referee roles further highlight his engagement with philosophy’s institutional and transnational dynamics.
