Giulio Azzolini

Giulio Azzolini is an Associate Professor in Political Philosophy at the Department of Philosophy and Cultural Heritage, Ca' Foscari University of Venice, where he has been since 2022. Previously, he held fixed-term researcher positions at the same department (2018-2022).

• Research Focus: World-systems theory, globalization theory, oligarchy theory, history of Marxism, elitism history, Italian political thought.
• Key Academic Contributions: His work examines transnational capitalist classes, Gramscian hegemony, and ruling class theories, with a focus on neoliberal globalization's crises.

Recent Publications include analyses of Berlinguer's PCI, Hegel's influence on Italian communism, and oligarchic structures in democratic frameworks. He has edited volumes on geopolitical theories and neoliberalism.

Projects: Currently involved in the PRIN-funded project Democratizing Energy, Energizing Democracy (2023-2025), addressing ecological transitions through deliberative democracy.
