Research Interests
Dr Ferri’s research concentrates on three interlocking strands: critical intercultural communication, language ideology and language & identity. More specifically, she interrogates intercultural ethics and education, the philosophy of intercultural difference, language ideologies, the interplay of language, culture and identity, and the discourse of neoliberal feminism. Her work is explicitly framed by critical, feminist and decolonial theories, seeking to expose and transform intersecting inequalities within and beyond educational contexts.
Across her recent publications she has examined how artificial intelligence is reshaping intercultural ethics, how student perceptions of English accents reflect broader ideologies in multilingual universities, and how higher education can be decolonised through radical rethinking of interculturality. Collectively, her scholarship pushes the field toward post-human, rhizomatic and ethical paradigms that move beyond essentialist notions of culture and otherness.
