Dr. Giulia Ferraris is an Early Stage Researcher in the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the University of Groningen, affiliated with the ENTWINE Informal Care Marie Skłodowska-Curie Innovation Training Network. She holds a PhD from the University of Groningen (2023), focusing on interactions between caregivers and their close ones, particularly regarding psychological wellbeing and willingness to care. Her research explores informal care dynamics within caregiver-care recipient dyads, emphasizing dyadic coping strategies, cross-country variations, and longitudinal methodologies.
Key research interests include Health Psychology, Informal Care, willingness to care, dyadic coping mechanisms, and intensive longitudinal studies. Her work contributes to understanding caregiving challenges across Europe through the ENTWINE-iCohort, a multinational project analyzing psychological, relational, and socio-economic aspects of caregiving. Recent studies investigate temporal fluctuations in willingness to care, dyadic social support, and implementation of digital mental health interventions for caregivers.
Her articles highlight trends in caregiver role variations, interdependence in non-spousal dyads, and body image concerns post-breast cancer. She collaborates with Professors Mariët Hagedoorn and Robbert Sanderman, contributing to projects like the ENTWINE Team. Current efforts aim to develop supportive frameworks for caregivers through evidence-based insights.
