Giselle Reis

Giselle Reis is an Associate Professor in the Computer Science Department at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar. As the Area Head for Computer Science, she plays a leadership role in shaping the academic and research directions of the program.

The Computer Science program at CMU-Q follows the curriculum of the globally renowned Carnegie Mellon School of Computer Science, emphasizing a strong theoretical foundation, practical system development, and interdisciplinary flexibility. Students are trained in mathematical reasoning, algorithmic thinking, programming fundamentals, and robust system design.

Her research interests align with the department's focus areas, including Artificial Intelligence, Human-Computer Interaction, Robotics, and Software Engineering. The program encourages students to engage in cutting-edge research through senior thesis projects, independent studies, and internships with CMU-Q research groups.

Dr. Reis was honored with the 2025 Meritorious Teaching Award, recognizing her contributions to education and mentorship in the field.
