Gisele Bonne is an INSERM Research Director and Team Leader specializing in genetics and muscle pathophysiology, particularly laminopathies and neuromuscular diseases. She earned a Doctorate in Developmental Physiology from the University of Paris 7 Denis Diderot.
Her research focuses on rare diseases caused by mutations in nuclear envelope proteins (e.g., lamins A/C) linked to Emery-Dreifuss muscular dystrophy (EDMD), L-CMD, and LGMD. She uses patient-derived cellular models and mouse models to validate pathogenic variants via NGS and test therapies.
- Organized 19+ national/international conferences (e.g., Filnemus, ENMC, World Muscle Society).
- Coordinated networks like the French Laminopathies Network (>70 members) and Euro-Laminopathies.
- Contributed to teaching in UPMC’s Master’s programs and co-led the MyoGrad International Doctoral School.
- Serves on editorial boards (e.g., Journal of Neuromuscular Diseases) and evaluation committees (e.g., ANR, BMBF).
