Gisela Priebe is a Professor of Psychology and Director of the Centre for research on the mental health and life circumstances of children and youth (CBU) at Karlstad University. Her work focuses on vulnerable populations, particularly children exposed to familial mental illness, abuse, and neglect. She holds a Doctoral degree from Lund University and has held academic positions at Linnæus University, Lund University, and as a guest lecturer at Linköping University.
Her research emphasizes ethical research practices with at-risk youth, the psychosocial development of gifted children, and the intersection of digital media with adolescent behavior. Key collaborations include healthcare providers, schools, and civil society organizations. She has led applied research projects such as the FAS Marie Curie Postdoc Fellowship on internet-related abuse trends (2011).
Publications highlight themes like sexual harassment in academic settings, dental care challenges for abuse survivors, and longitudinal studies on adolescent pornography use.
