Girts Dimdins, Professor and Senior Researcher at the University of Latvia, serves as Head of the Department of Psychology. His academic work spans social psychology, political psychology, and research ethics, with collaborations at Stockholm University, SSE Riga, and SIA Fontes Latvija.
His research focuses on political and economic attitudes, ideological orientation, intergroup perception, trust, moral judgments, and social cognitive processes in contact with misleading information. Specific interests include the psychological foundations of morality, personality trait correlations with economic attitudes, and mechanisms of trust in political institutions.
Recent publications analyze network structures of political trust, corruption in weak democracies, and misinformation processing using methodologies like network analysis, cross-cultural studies, and cognitive bias experiments.
