Giovanni Tuzet is a Full Professor of Philosophy of Law at Bocconi University in Milan, Italy. He holds a Law Degree from the University of Ferrara and dual PhDs in Philosophy of Law (University of Turin) and Epistemology (University of Paris XII). Previously, he was a researcher at the University of Lausanne’s Department of Philosophy.
His research focuses on legal argumentation theory, evidence law, epistemology, and the economic analysis of law. Key projects include The Reasoned Proof, exploring evidence and proof as inferential processes, and co-editing Philosophical Foundations of Evidence Law (Oxford UP, 2021), a landmark volume with contributions from global scholars. He teaches legal argumentation and economic analysis of law, emphasizing practical application of economic reasoning in legal contexts.
Recent publications address epistemological challenges in law, such as standards of proof and judicial decision-making. His work bridges law with philosophy and economics, addressing topics like moral externalities, analogical reasoning, and cognitive biases in legal practice.
