Dr. Giovanni Tidona is a researcher at the Institute of Philosophy at the University of Koblenz-Landau, where he focuses on social ontology, phenomenology, and interdisciplinary philosophical applications. He holds a doctorate in practical philosophy from Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (2013) and has extensive teaching experience at institutions including the Heidelberg University of Education (2016–2018). His research explores themes such as xenology, spatial theory, and the nexus of 'foreign/other' in cultural and social contexts. Currently, he is a Senior Fellow at the Center for Intercultural Studies (ZIS), Mainz, working on a new edition of Munasu Duala M'bedy's seminal work on xenology. He is also organizing interdisciplinary seminars on 'The Other in Ethnology and Philosophy' and a workshop on 'Linguistic-Philosophical Contours of Xenology.' Tidona’s methodology emphasizes intercultural philosophy and textual analysis, positioning philosophy as a 'technique for transcultural dialogue.' His publications include monographs on communities and phenomenological thought, editorships of key philosophical texts, and essays addressing spatial theory, educational philosophy, and ethical questions.
His academic trajectory includes roles at the Eugen Fink Research Center, Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences, and SRH University Heidelberg. He has engaged in applied research on migration and integration, blending philosophical inquiry with practical educational challenges. Tidona’s work bridges philosophy with cultural studies, anthropology, and ethics, offering innovative frameworks for understanding contemporary intercultural dynamics.
