Giovanni TATEO

Prof. Giovanni TATEO is a Full Professor of German Literature at the Department of Humanities, University of Salento. He has served as Director of the Department of Humanities since 2012 and previously led the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures. He holds roles in academic governance, including membership in the University Senate and the European Research Doctorate College. His research focuses on 19th-century German literature, narratology, and the Wiener Moderne movement, with expertise in authors like Theodor Storm, Hermann Bahr, and Arthur Schnitzler.

• Education: Studied at the Universities of Bari and Marburg, specializing in German Literature.
• Leadership: Coordinated Erasmus+ agreements with Universities of Bremen, Wuppertal, and Santiago de Compostela.
• Research: Scientific director of the International Inter-University Center for Studies on the Adriatic Journey (VIAGGIADR). Editor of Lingue e Linguaggi since its inception and on the board of Revue européenne de recherches sur la poésie.
