Giorgio VALMORBIDA is a Professor at CentraleSupélec and a member of the L2S laboratory and Inria-DISCO teams in Gif-sur-Yvette, France. He holds a PhD from LAAS/CNRS (Toulouse, 2010) and a Habilitation from Université Paris-Saclay (2021). His research focuses on robust and nonlinear control, convex optimization, stability analysis of complex systems, and their applications in distributed parameter systems, hybrid systems, and actuator saturation. He has held postdoctoral positions at the University of Rome Tor Vergata (2010-2012) and the University of Oxford (2013-2015), where he was also a Fulford Junior Research Fellow.
Research Interests: His work bridges theoretical control methods with practical applications, emphasizing convex optimization techniques (e.g., sum-of-squares methods), stability analysis of Lur'e systems, model predictive control (MPC), and distributed parameter systems. He has pioneered methods for regional stability analysis in piecewise affine systems and developed algorithms for controller synthesis under constraints.
Publications: His recent work explores low-dimensional control design for high-dimensional systems, stability verification for reaction-diffusion-ODE systems, and MPC-neural network interactions. These contributions advance both foundational theory and real-world applications in automotive systems, power electronics, and robotics.
Awards:
- Fulford Junior Research Fellowship, Somerville College, University of Oxford (2013-2015)
Lab and Team Affiliations: Active member of the L2S laboratory (CentraleSupélec) and Inria-DISCO teams, collaborating on projects like SYCOMORE (robust control), MODESTY (modeling), and ILOCOS (optimization in communication systems).
