Ginetta DE TRANE is an Associate Professor of Latin Civilization and Latin Teaching at the University of Salento, affiliated with the Department of Cultural Heritage within the Faculty of Humanities. She holds a PhD in Roman Civilization and has served as a permanent Researcher since 2013. Her teaching includes courses such as Latin Language Laboratory, Latin Civilization for Cultural Heritage, and Latin Language and Literature for Modern Languages programs. She has been a visiting professor at universities in Leeds and Liège and serves on academic committees including the Doctoral School of Languages and Cultures.
Her research focuses on classical Latin literature, intertextuality in Apuleius' Metamorphoses, Roman cultural history, and pedagogical approaches to teaching Latin. She has published extensively on topics ranging from Virgil's Aeneid to gender roles in ancient Rome, with contributions to journals like Rudiae and volumes in honor of academic peers.
Her publications reflect engagement with ancient texts' literary and historical dimensions, including studies on Lucretius' philosophical critiques, Ovid's epistolary techniques, and Dido's portrayal in epic poetry. She actively contributes to academic networks and editorial projects, including the Istorie series on antiquity studies.
