Gina Trapp

Gina Trapp is a Professor of Food and Nutrition Environments at Edith Cowan University (ECU), leading the Food Environments Team within the Nutrition & Health Innovation Research Institute. She holds additional roles as a Stan Perron People Fellow, Honorary Research Fellow at the Telethon Kids Institute, and Registered Public Health Nutritionist. Her research bridges nutrition, public health, geography, and urban planning, focusing on how children’s environments influence dietary habits and physical activity. She has secured over $13.2M in research funding and received 41+ awards, including the 2015 Western Australian Tall Poppy Science Award.

Dr. Trapp earned her PhD in Public Health from the University of Western Australia (2013). Her work emphasizes policy-driven solutions to improve food and physical activity environments, collaborating with stakeholders like urban planners and local governments. Notable projects include mapping food access via the national 'Food Atlas' and investigating energy drink consumption trends among youth.
