Gillian O'Callaghan serves as a PME1 and PME2 tutor and Research Supervisor at the School of Education, University College Cork (UCC), while also contributing to the School's Learning & Teaching Strategic Committee. With over two decades of experience in second-level education including a decade as a secondary school Principal, she brings extensive practical leadership to teacher education.
Her academic qualifications include:

- Higher Diploma in Education
- Certificate in Educational Leadership
Ms. O'Callaghan's research focuses on implementing literacy programmes across curriculums, developing attendance intervention strategies, and creating inclusive learning environments for underprivileged and SEN students. She champions student-led, enquiry-based methodologies that prioritize core skill acquisition, informed by her work founding CoisCeim—a Limerick-based school attendance initiative—and her experience teaching disadvantaged youth across Ireland and the UK.
As a Research Supervisor, she mentors postgraduate students in the PME programme, applying her frontline educational leadership experience to develop future educators while on career break from school administration.
