Professor Gillian Forrester is a faculty member at the University of Staffordshire, holding the title of Professor of Education Policy. Her work critically examines education policy processes, focusing on the interplay between neoliberalism, national policy, and their practical implementation. She leads the Professional Doctorate in Education (EdD) program and has extensive experience in teaching across higher education levels. Her research spans over two decades, emphasizing historical and sociological analyses of educational policies, including studies on performance-related pay, teacher autonomy, and policy impacts on schools.
Education Background: Gillian earned her PhD in 2003 from Keele University, focusing on professionalism and performance in primary education. She also holds qualifications such as a BA in Applied Social Studies and Education, a Higher Education Associate Teacher award, and a Fellowship from the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
Research Interests: Her work explores policy implementation, teacher and student experiences under neoliberal policies, and governance structures in education. Notable projects include studies on early years practitioners, student aspirations, and the DIGI-S.PA.C.E. Erasmus+ initiative.
