Gilles Demonet serves as a University Professor at the Faculty of Music and Musicology, directing the professional master's program in Music Administration and Management with campuses in Paris and Abu Dhabi. He concurrently leads IReMUS (Institute for Research in Musicology, UMR 8223), a joint research unit under the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS).
His research critically examines musical institutions through interdisciplinary lenses, focusing on governance structures of musical organizations in France and internationally, music law frameworks, economic models in the music sector, and cultural policy development. This work bridges legal scholarship and musicological analysis, reflecting his dual expertise as both a qualified lawyer and musicologist.
Prior to his academic career, Demonet held significant industry positions including administrator of Paris' historic Opéra-Comique and director of IMG Artists' French office, providing practical foundations for his current scholarly and administrative roles in music education and research leadership.
