Professor Giles Oldroyd is the Russell R Geiger Professor of Crop Sciences and Director of the Crop Science Centre at the University of Cambridge. He is affiliated with the School of Biological Sciences and Department of Plant Sciences, focusing on plant-microbe symbiosis for sustainable agriculture. His research spans biological nitrogen fixation, mycorrhizal associations, and synthetic biology applications.
Research Interests:
- Plant nutrient acquisition via symbiotic associations
- Calcium signaling in symbiosis
- Genetic engineering of crop microbiomes
- Evolutionary biology of root nodule symbioses
