Gifty Abraham

Dr. Gifty Abraham is an Associate Professor in the Occupational Therapy Department at Midwestern University's College of Health Sciences. She holds an O.T.D. (2012), M.S. (2011), and B.S. (2009) from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her clinical expertise focuses on pediatric occupational therapy with specialization in sensory processing and child volition evaluation.

Research interests center on enhancing parental self-efficacy in therapy interventions and incorporating spiritual/religious dimensions into occupational therapy practice for children with disabilities. Current projects examine nursing staff preparedness for working with autistic children in hospital settings.

She mentors student research groups and leads the intramural grant project Cognitive Orientation to Daily Occupational Performance Group for Children with Sensory Challenges. Dr. Abraham maintains clinical practice in outpatient pediatric settings while teaching courses including Occupational Therapy Process: Children and Sensory Processing.
