معرفی
Gianfranco Gilardi is a Professor at the Department of Life Sciences and Systems Biology, University of Turin. His research focuses on biochemistry, redox enzymes, protein engineering, and biosensor development. He has coordinated a cutting-edge research group studying oxidoreductase proteins involved in cellular respiration, photosynthesis, drug metabolism, and hormone/vitamin synthesis.
- Department of Life Sciences and Systems Biology
- Research areas: Electron transfer, biocatalysis, biosensors, pharmacogenetics
His work spans fundamental studies of mitochondrial/chloroplast electron transfer systems and applied projects in bioremediation, biohydrogen production, and pharmaceutical metabolism. He pioneered enzyme immobilization on electrode surfaces for biosynthetic platforms and pharmacogenetic studies.
Scientific achievements include:
- Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (2003)
- 5.5 million euros in national/international research grants over 15 years
- Over 100 international publications
- Co-founder and Scientific Director of NanoBioDesign Ltd (2002-2008)
He has served as reviewer for major research bodies including BBSRC, EPSRC, NWO, European Research Council, and editorial roles for journals like Biotechnology and Applied Biochemistry.
